About Kadampa Buddhism
Kadampa Buddhism is a Mahayana Buddhist School founded by the great Indian Master Atisha (982-1054AD). His followers, known as Kadampa's, integrate all of Buddha's teachings into their meditation practice and use this wisdom and compassion to transform daily activities into the path to enlightenment. Olympia Mahayana Buddhist Center is a member of the New Kadampa Tradition- international Kadampa Buddhist Union (NKT-IKBU). The Union was founded over 28 years ago in the United Kingdom through the kindness of redowned Buddhist Teacher and scholar Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso. The practice of Kadampa Buddhism is spreading quickly and there are Kadampa Centers around the world. New Kadampa students are diverse and come from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. Each year students from around the world gather for festivals, where they can receive teachings directly from Geshe Kelsang Gyatso and NKT Spiritual Directors. Everyone is welcome to attend these holy festivals and teachings.
