What to Expect in a Meditation Class

Meditation class

Everyone is welcome; you do not need to be a Buddhist to attend these meditation classes, or to benefit from the meditation techniques which are taught. Everyone can benefit from learning to cultivate and maintain inner peace through meditation. No registration required. Suggested donation is $10 unless otherwise noted.

A meditation class explains Buddhist meditation, ideas, and practice and includes guided meditation and a teaching. You will find much practical spiritual advice that you can apply immediately to relieve stress and solve problems in your life. The classes are suitable for both beginners and experienced meditators. Most classes are organized as short courses, usually 3 to 6 weeks long, but each class is self-contained; you can begin at anytime.

Class Format

The teacher begins the class with a short guided meditation to help you relax and focus your mind. Then or she will give a talk based on Buddha's teachings that will explain how to put meditation into practice in daily life to increase your own and others happiness. There is usually a question and answer period at the end. After class we enjoy light refreshments and there is an opportunity to talk to the teacher.
