A Brief History

As early as 2000, branch classes were taught in Olympia, and in 2002, students requested a full-time Kadampa Buddhist teacher. In response Geshe Kelsang Gyatso established the Olympia Mahayana Buddhist Center (OMBC) and sent a Resident Teacher. As a place of joy and refuge, OMBC's function is to show people how to overcome their delusions and create peace, love and harmony in their lives.

Financial Support

As a nonprofit organization, donations and fees for classes are our only source of income. Monthly membership fees go directly towards the general operating expenses.

Ways people contribute to the Center:

  • Become a Supporter who pays regular monthly fees for classes
  • Make a donation of money or items for our wish list
  • Help with fundraising

How to Become a Supporter

You can become a supporting member (supporter) of OMBC by making a commitment to contribute $60 a month for at least six months. Your monthly contribution includes all general program classes at the center, including classes Wednesday mid-day and Wednesday nights, Thursday and Sunday mornings, as well as classes in Tacoma and Shelton. Also included; special Saturday classes, retreats and if interested, the Foundation Program.

For more information or to become an OMBC Supporter you can email us at info@meditateinolympia.org or phone us at (360) 754-7787.

Whenever we help our Dharma center, either with our prayers, by volunteering our time and energy, or through financial contributions, in reality we are helping all living beings attain the peace and joy they wish for.

OMBC is a 501(c)3 organization, making your donations tax deductible.
